2013 March Plein Air Schedule

 March 7 – Meeker Slough and Stege Marsh, (Meg)

Go north/west toward Richmond-San Rafael bridge and Point Richmond on 580  Exit at Marina Bay Parkway, turn left and go over freeway. Continue on Marina Bay Parkway past a signal, some train tracks, a second signal (Regatta)

Continue following Marina Bay Parkway to Bayside Drive, turn left and go to a big circle with parking at the end. (If you go too far you will see Shimada Friendship Park, come back.)

From the parking walk about a block on the trail to the public shore.  Turn right and look for bridge and pier or left to enjoy the ducks on the slough.

There are no facilities, but Meg can let you in to use the Marina Bay poolside toilets. Come find her while painting.

March 11 – The ECAA Meeting & Program

El  Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. At 7pm artwork is submitted for the Members Mini Art Show.  We have time to visit & vote for art show winners. Theme is “California Scenes”. The program starts at 7:30-45 after a short business meeting.  Tonight’s guest artist is watercolorist Margaret Fago who will talk about her work and about plein air painting!

 March 14 – End of Crest Ave, Pt Richmond (Carol Sutton)

Take Cutting Blvd. to S. Garrard Blvd.  Left onto S. Garrard for a block. Turn right on W. Richmond Ave into downtown Pt. Richmond. Left on Washington Avenue, past three streets to Crest Ave. Left on Crest uphill all the way to the end of the road.  There will be a fire gate and an area with some parking. You can stay there and paint or walk past the fire gate and up the paved path up the hill to whatever view you like.

March 21 – Ikuko Boyland’s Garden, El Cerrito

We are invited to paint in Ikuko’s garden at 2656 Francesco Way, El Cerrito.  Take Barrett Ave from either Arlington Blvd or San Pablo Ave. From Arlington go downhill past the school & tennis courts to Carquinez & turn right.  Turn left at the next block onto Francisco. From San Pablo Ave take Barrett uphill  to Carquinez and turn left.  Turn left on Francesco and go downhill around a curve to 2656.  Light refreshments  offered at 1pm while we have a critique of the day’s work.

March 28 – Lakeside Park, Lake Merritt (Andree Julian)

Drive south on Telegraph Avenue towards Oakland.  Turn left on West Grand Avenue, drive 7 blocks to the entrance of Lakeside Park.  Entrance fee $2 per car.  Drive by Fairyland, Lakeside Park and Boat House parking lot.  Park and meet near bird sanctuary.  Benches, views of small lake islands and variety of birds.  Restroom facilities.  Meet after l pm at the benches for optional viewing of paintings.
