Bruce K. Hopkins Demonstration of Use of Gouache Paint at El Cerrito Art Association September Meeting
Bruce K. Hopkins, an illustrator/graphic artist and fine artist will demonstrate the use of gouache paint for plein air, figure studies, botanical painting, and textile design at the monthly El Cerrito Art Association meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 at the El Cerrito Community Center.
Bruce K. Hopkins has had a life-long interest in art and began exhibiting his fine art in 2000 in both juried and non-juried shows around the Bay Area. He was raised and educated in Sonoma County, where he completed a B.A. in studio arts from Sonoma State University. Bruce has lived and worked as an illustrator/graphic artist for more than 20 years in the East Bay, and currently is a resident of Vallejo, California where he works from his studio and garden.
Bruce has a variety of visual interests, and his past work includes landscape, abstract, botanical, and figurative work. He works in a variety of media, including pastels, gouache, scratchboard, and digital creations.
In 2013 he became a partner in the Graton Gallery, in Graton, Sonoma County, where his work is on display with the other partners and featured artists. He is also a long-term member of the Sanderlings, a private life drawing group in Richmond.

The September 9 meeting will be held in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with social time and a “mini art show” of members’ work. A brief business meeting is held at 7:30, followed by the speaker.
