“Still Life Painting with a Little Drama,” a show of acrylic paintings by ECAA member Claudia V. Randel, will be on view at Payn’s Stationery Store in Berkeley from May 14 to July 16.

Payn’s Stationery, 1791 Solano Ave, Berkeley, is open Mon.-Sat. 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Claudia, who works in a wide range of media, says these paintings are studies in light and texture and they also express her view of the individual character of each of her subjects, which range from avocados to squash.

Born in Chile, Claudia has been drawing and painting all her life. She is a graduate of Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Today she works in a wide range of media and likes to experiment with subject matter, both in a classical way and sometimes using less orthodox methods.

“This is a personal journey. Everything around me is a potential subject to paint or draw: a drop of water, the texture of fabric, trees on the hill, rusty pipes, patterns on leaves. Each piece becomes an opportunity to grow, to test my patience, and my focus,” she says.

  1. Thanks to all the people who are helping with this show. Let me know if I can assist in any show or activity.

  2. My show is doing great. Again, I want to thank June Hunt who helped me hanging the painting at Payn’s the first day of my show. Yesterday I met Joan Mastronarde and her husband. Joan and I communicated by email for months regarding the exhibit, and later about the reception. She had been such a great help. June and Joan had made all so much easier.
The ECAA can count on me for any upcoming activities, such as art events, or assisting other members with their shows,
