El Cerrito – The 2013 El Cerrito Art Association (ECAA) Art Show and Sale, an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the local art scene, will be Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6 at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito.
The hours are Friday, Oct. 4, 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 6 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The show, in its 37th year, will feature more than 350 works of art, many available for sale, including paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, prints, mixed media pieces and digital art. Works also will be entered in the theme category, Fall.
The Friday, Oct. 4, reception from 7 to 9 p.m. is a chance to meet many of the approximately 150 artists represented in the show. You can speak to the creators of your favorite works or compare notes with other art lovers during the festivities.
The show continues Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing an opportunity to more-closely examine the artwork and perhaps pick an original work of art to own.
On Saturday, an Artists’ Market with individual booths outside the art show provides additional works for sale and another opportunity to discuss art with the professionals.
“Everyone can own original art that is professionally accomplished and framed,” said ECAA president Jean Witzke. “Find something you like and hang it in your home. No more posters like you see on the walls of hotels and offices!”
“The annual show is also a way to get to know some of the East Bay’s wonderful artists, who live right in your neighborhood. Next thing you know, you’ll be going to their openings too. It’s a great way to let these artists know you enjoy the work they do,” she said.
