This month’s schedule includes some changes & additions to our regular plan of outdoor Thursdays.  We have had requests to try meeting on Tuesdays, so the first session of the month will be held both on February 4 and 6. We also talked about repeating sites so people can finish their work or return to a familiar location to try another approach.  Accordingly both Thursdays 20 and 27 will meet on Crest Ave. in Pt Richmond.

Here it is, let me know what you think as the month progresses:

Feb 4th (Tuesday) & 6th (Thursday) VINEYARD ON CHURCH LN, San Pablo.  This is the end of the season and the vines are almost bare.  Take San Pablo Ave north from El Cerrito to Church Lane and turn right (just before La Strada restaurant) about 2 blocks.  Turn right again and take the first entrance into St Joseph’s cemetery.  Park at the bottom of the hill near the office.  Look up for the view of the hills behind the vineyard.

Feb 10th – PROGRAM MEETING featuring a watercolor demonstration by Larry Cannon!  El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane.  7pm: Artwork submitted for the Mini Art Show of members’ work, we visit and vote for the art show winners. Program starts with a brief business meeting at 7:30pm.

Feb 13th – LIVE OAK PARK, Shattuck Ave & Berryman, Berkeley – (Marie Cotter suggests this site.)  From El Cerrito, I drove along Martin L King Blvd to Rose St., turned left (toward the hills) and left again on Walnut.  There are other ways such as the Arlington Circle to Shattuck and downward toward Walnut Square & Rose St.. On Walnut  St the east side of the park there is an interesting house with a pretty garden and wisteria and perhaps “tulip” trees which should flower sometime in February?

Feb 20th  &  27th  – END OF CREST AVE.  PT RICHMOND (This site was originally suggested by Carol Sutton who said:  There is parking for about 10 cars.  The spot is a tad weird, not dangerous but it would be uncomfortable to be alone there. Residential area, dog walkers, walkers and a few people just parked and sitting.  No water.  No restrooms, but very close to downtown Pt. Richmond. From El Cerrito, take  Cutting Blvd or 580 from Berkeley to downtown Point Richmond. (turn right to avoid going thru tunnel) and if you are now on E Richmond Avenue, follow it.  Turn south (left) at the first street that looks like it will go a distance (Washington Ave.).  When you reach the crest of the hill you are at Crest Avenue.   Turn left and drive to the end of the road.  Google maps would be a big help.

Note: We have been invited to have an exhibit of outdoor artwork at El Cerrito City Hall and the dates are probably (hang week of July 28) Aug 4 – Sept 11 2014.  So far there is no chair for the event so we will need a volunteer committee or person or may have to cancel the show.   Are you interested?  Can you help or take charge?
