Please note : Next ECAA Meeting is Monday April 13 (Palette had the date wrong)
El Sobrante artist Larry Hatfield will do a watercolor demo, What If The Sky Isn’t Blue, focusing on decisions made during the painting process at the monthly El Cerrito Art Association meeting April 13 at the El Cerrito Community Center.
With a photo of the scene, Larry will talk about composition, and paint with watercolor in stages to demonstrate the purpose of artistic choices. The framed final painting will be on display to show the finished product.
Larry’s “speed bio” reads: Studied Landscape Architecture, transferred to Graphic Design at Iowa State Univ. Practiced Graphic Design and Illustration in the Bay Area. Worked in commercial printing sales. Became a high school teacher, created 3D Animation and Photoshop classes. Retired in 2008 and began painting seriously.
He also works with the Sanderling Group, a private life drawing studio, and has participated in their group shows, currently at Solano Grill and Bar in Albany.
His web site, larryhatfieldart.com, reveals the inspiration of California Plein Air Painters, and his goal to capture something of the outdoors remind us of the soul-restoring greatness and wonder of Creation.
The meeting will be held in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. The evening begins at 7:00 pm with social time and a “mini art show” of members’ work. A brief business meeting is held at 7:30, followed by the speaker. El Cerrito Art Association meetings are open to the public, and visitors and new members are always welcome.
