April 10, 2017 – Maj-Britt Hilstrom – Printmaking Demo

Our program for April 10th features local artist Maj-Britt Hilstrom, sculptor and printmaker whose work focuses on her passion for our earth’s water and its protection.

She will demonstrate woodblock printmaking following brief announcements at 7:30 pm, emphasizing the Japanese method of multiple color and/or print editions.

As a student of Japanese artist Toshi Yoshida, her personal technique combines Japanese and European methods, and she creates woodblock prints on various surfaces, including her own handmade paper, canvas, cloth, and lambskin suede. This program will focus on the Japanese method of multiple color and/or print editions.

Graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island, IL; MA in Art, SFSU, photo-printmaking concentration; further studies: the Yoshida Hanga Academy,Tokyo, Japan; and the Marble and Art Institute, Pietrasanta, Italy
