September 11, 2017 – Dug Waggoner – Pastel Demonstration

September 11th Pastel Demonstration: Local pastel artist Dug Waggoner will use his work Garrapata to display his skillful approach to surface preparation, underpainting and many layers of soft pastel.

A BFA in Advertising Design from California College of the Arts led to his 40 year career as an art director, graphic designer and illustrator, capped by an award winning decade+ as a pastel artist.

Recognition as a Distinguished member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast followed, as well as International Association Pastel Societies shows in Boston and New York, their on-line shows and bi-annual conventions in Albuquerque, NM.

His work is published in the Pastel Journal’s annual Pastel 100, with an Honorable Mention in April 2017. Most notably, North Light Books will include two of his award winning paintings in their Pure Color 2.

Dug paints at favorite locales in the Bay Area, gives workshops and judges shows of several art organizations, most recently, the Society of Western Artists in San Bruno.

Our October 9th program features a talk and images by acrylic artist Carolyn WarmSun.
