Dug’s early art skills led to a BFA from California College of the Arts and a long career in advertising and design. Although he enjoys watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, his first love is pastel. With many local, national and international awards to his credit, Dug has achieved the Distinguished member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC) and last year the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) presented him with their Master Circle award.

El Cerrito residents will recognize the mural on the Contra Costa Civic Theater (Moeser Ln at Pomona Ave) which the Flynn family commissioned for its 50th anniversary in 2009. Two of Dug’s award-winning paintings, “Duck Landing” and “Elkhorn Quiet” are included in North Light Books recent publication “Pure Pastel”.
