Our Next Meeting: May 9th, 7 – 9 pm

Mosaic Making Demonstration by Sylvia Mori

[cont’d]

Sylvia has been making her mosaics since 2005. For the next five years her works were decorative mosaics in stained glass and ceramic tiles, as she evolved to painting with glass, ceramics and other materials. Returning from travels to Italy, France, Spain and Chile over the years, she often brought specialty tiles collected on her excursions to use in future compositions—carefully within the weight limits!

Her tile-making event for children over the years at ECAA’s 4th of July  booth was especially popular and fine examples are displayed on her own garden fence.

Sylvia’s recent presentation for the Civic Arts League of Diablo Valley in Walnut Creek was very well received by its members, and she has another presentation and exhibit at Juku Co-Working Space on Stockton Ave in El Cerrito coming soon.

Enter through the main doors for a view of Sylvia’s series “Prize-Winning Mosaics” on display in our lobby exhibit space. Turn left down the hallway past the restrooms. Our programs are free and open to the public.  The El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane is disability accessible..

Our June 13th meeting will be a demonstration by ceramic artist Ellen Schachtshale at the El Cerrito Arlington Clubhouse, 1120 Arlington Blvd,  This is a temporary relocation to make way for summer camp at the community center. We’re back there in July for a Summer Solstice Celebration.
