Oil Painting Demo

Erica Norelius will give an oil painting demo at the El Cerrito Art Association meeting at 7:00 pm on Feb.13 in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center.

Erica will paint a color study using a photo from her painting trip to Cuba, step two in her process of studio painting, which follows a value sketch. She will show us how she goes from photo reference to value sketch to color study and then on to the larger paintiing, exploring a limited palette.

An award-winning oil painter, Erica’s work has been featured in a wide range of publications. Her work has appeared on the covers of Cornell’s lliterary magazine, Epoch, and she has often been a finalist in the International Artist Magazine. Among her most prestigious awards was receiving second honors at the Portrait Society of America’s International Competition in 2015.

The Feb. 13 meeting will be held in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. The evening begins at 7:00 pm with social time and a “mini art show” of members’ work. A brief business meeting is held at 7:30, followed by the speaker.

El Cerrito Art Association meetings are open to the public, and visitors and new members are always welcome. For further information about this program, contact Barbara Daniell at 510-277-6996 or For more information about the Association, see The Community Center is handicapped-accessible.
