February 12, 2018 – Ling-Te Liao – Chinese Painting Demonstration

Our first meeting of 2018 features Ling and his self-taught approach to Chinese landscape painting, using black ink on rice paper.

“Making Art has always been an enjoyable part of my life. I have done calligraphy and Chinese Art since my high school days in Taiwan.  In graduate school at the University of Minnesota, I studied Chinese Art History and ceramics. In California, I enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery.  I belong to several outdoor painting groups, painting mostly in watercolor, sometimes with rice paper and ink. I always try to put some effort into making a bridge between East and West.  I have been told my painting has the spirit of that fusion.  Also, teaching Chinese painting is a small step towards achieving that goal.”

Ling-Te is a member of ECAA, and also teaches in his Berkeley studio.

Our March 12 program is an oil painting demonstration by Tom Soltesz.

Our programs are free and open to the public at the El Cerrito Community Center 7007 Moeser Lane.
