April 5 – Blake Gardens

Directions: From Berkeley, N. Oakland: The Alameda to the Circle, Arlington Ave, left on to Rincon, first parking lot on right is Blake. From Alameda. Arlington Ave, right onto Rincon. Looking for early spring blooms.

April 12 – Delaware and 5th, in Berkeley

We were rained out. Let’s try again! There is a great little village of buildings between 5th and 6th streets on Delaware. It is tucked away from traffic and has many Victorian/beach style cottages and store fronts with attractive landscaping. From El Cerrito take Hwy 80 to University turn left on to 5th, park in parking lot at Delaware or on the street after passing Hearst. From Oakland/south Berkeley. Either take 80 to University or take the 13 (Ashby) right onto San Pablo, left onto Cedar, left on to 5th. We will meet at corner of 5th and Delaware.

April 19 –Jewel Lake, Tilden Park

Another rainy day. Park and meet at Tilden Indian Camp. We will then go to the Wildcat Creek Trail head. 1/2 mile walk. Part of it is a great boardwalk that leads to the lake. Amenities at trailhead: parking, water, benches, information, restrooms, Visitor Center, phone. From Berkeley, take Spruce, sharp left onto Canon Drive, bear left onto Central Park Dr. Park and drive to parking. From El Cerrito area, San Pablo to Marin Ave. at Round about, up Marin left on Spruce, sharp left on Canon, bear left onto Central Park Drive.

April 26– Lake Temescal

Originally constructed as a storage lake for drinking water, Temescal open to the public in 1936 as one of the EB Regional Park District’s first three parks. The two-story stone “Beach House” building overlooking the lake was built in 1940. Meet near the picnic area & dock about halfway between Broadway & Broadway Terrace entrances. Take hwy 13 to Broadway Terrace exit, make left turn from exit, left into the parking lot. Or take 580 to 24 exit at Broadway stay right to parking lot on right.
