April 8, 7 – 9 PM: Salvador Valencia: Watercolor Airbrush Demo

Our April 8 program features an air brush watercolor demonstration by local artist Salvador Valencia.  He will use water soluble batik dyes to create an abstract painting with his innovative techniques.

A contemporary plein air artist and abstract expressionist who creates bold, colorful paintings, Salvador captures the effects of color in sunlight and shade by painting outdoors with watercolors. By experimenting with color and design, he intensifies the mood and subject in his work and engages the viewer in a challenge to see more.

The artist’s work is widely on display nationally and internationally and can be viewed locally at The Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek. Articles in Watercolor Magazines have regularly featured his work. He also teaches seasonal plein air watercolor classes and has been a juror for California Watercolor Association’s National Exhibition.

We meet every second Monday evening February – November 7 – 9 pm. The program begins at 7:30 pm following our 7:00 Social, Members’ Mini Art Show and brief announcements. Free and open to the public in the Garden Room at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane.

Our May 13th program features Meredith Klein and her demonstration of calligraphy.
