Monday, May 8th – 6:30 – 8:30 pm Watercolor Demo by David Savellano

Rescheduled from the March weather cancellation, we welcome back one of our favorite demo artists and annual show judges, David Savellano. David works primarily en plein air (outdoors), creating watercolor paintings that capture random moments—on the street, in nature, and wherever else his portable easel takes him. “I enjoy working outdoors because it’s unpredictable and lends itself to a kind of spontaneity you just can’t get in a studio.”

He’ll give us a demonstration of his approach and skills for a fresh start on making art!

Although largely self-taught, he credits his 40 years practicing architecture with having given him the drawing skills and strong sense of perspective that have elevated his artwork to a professional level.

Participating in local and regional plein air events, most recently at this year’s  Paint Maui Invitational.  David has produced award winning paintings while promoting the art form about which he’s so impassioned. He’s been an instructor at La Romita workshop sessions in Italy and is closely associated with the Frank Bette Art Center in Alameda. http://www.davidsavellano.com

We are back in the Garden Room again for most of our meetings, just a little earlier on second Mondays Feb – Nov at a slightly earlier time: 6:00 pm set up and social time; 6:30 for brief business and announcements, followed by our artist’s program.

Come a little early — we are on our own to set up tables and chairs —or stay a little later to put it all back! Bring snacks to share if you like, we’ll have hot water for coffee, tea, hot chocolate.

Our mini art show is non-competitive these days, more of a show and tell option. Feel free to bring a piece of your artwork just to share with the group as we get started.

El Cerrito Community Center 7007 Moeser Ln, El Cerrito . Free and open to the public, all welcome.

Note: New for our June 12th meeting! We’ll be co-hosting an afternoon program by nature journalist Kate Rutter with Annie’s Annuals and Perennials at their Richmond location, 740 Market Ave. from 3 – 4:30 pm, ECAA members free, general public evite.
