We meet at the site on Thursdays 11 am – 1 pm and welcome all artists. We’ll resume meeting afterwards at the site to share our work with each other at 1 pm.
July 6: MEEKER SLOUGH, Richmond: From Berkeley, take I-80 north. Use the right two lanes to merge onto I-580 toward Richmond Bridge. Take the South 23rd St/ Marina Bay exit. Turn left onto Marina Bay Parkway at the signal light. Continue on Marina Bay Pkwy, crossing Regatta Blvd (4th traffic light). Turn left onto Bayside Drive.
July 13: BLAKE GARDENS* 70 Rincon Rd. Kensington blakegarden.ced.berkeley.edu Blake Garden should again now be in full bloom, particularly perennials. From the north, take Arlington Blvd and turn right onto Rincon Rd. and turn right again into the parking lot. From the south, turn left just before the flashing light onto Rincon Road. Then turn left into the driveway for the Blake Garden parking lot. Rincon Road meets Arlington Blvd. both north & south of the big church on the west side of Arlington.
July 20: WILDCAT CANYON, Monte Cresta Ave. San Pablo at the end of Monte Cresta Ave. Provides open vistas of Alvarado Park, Wildcat Canyon, and further parklands to the Bay. Take I-80 north to San Pablo Dam Rd. exit and turn right onto San Pablo Dam Rd. Turn right onto Morrow Dr., then left onto Hillcrest Rd. for a while. Turn right onto Bonita Rd., then left onto Monte Cresta Ave. where we meet at the dead end.
July 27 Lake Temescal* 6500 Broadway, Oakland North Entrance
Take Ashby Avenue past the Claremont Hotel, which changes to Tunnel Road. Stay in the left lane and follow signs for Highway 24 Walnut Creek. Make a left turn at the light. Go up the hill and make a right turn on the overpass and another right onto Broadway. Do not get on the freeway. Drive 0.6 mi. and make a left turn into the parking lot at a big sign “Temescal Recreation Area.” There is a kiosk but usually no attendant taking fees during the week.
