Plein Air for March 2024

We meet at the site on Thursdays 11 am – 1 pm and welcome all artists. We’ll resume meeting afterward at the site to share our work with each other at 1 pm. 

March 7:  *Blake Gardens, 70 Rincon Rd,­­­­ Kensingtonhttp://blakegarden.ced.berkeley.edu/
From Berkeley or North Oakland, take The Alameda to the Circle, Arlington Ave, left onto Rincon, first parking lot on right is Blake. From north, Arlington Ave, right onto Rincon. The magnolia trees are in full bloom.

March 14: *Washington Park, Alameda.  1333 Eighth St.  Head south on Interstate 80 to Interstate 580 towards Oakland. Take exit 42 toward Alameda. (0.3mi) Turn right onto 5th St. (0.2mi) Then take a slight left turn onto Webster St Tube. (0.7 mi). Keep left onto Wilma Chan Way (1.0mi) 1.2 mi – the parking lot is on your right.  There are lots of open spaces in the park and nearby are some beautiful Craftsman style bungalows along a street lined with palm trees (Burbank St at Portola St). For those interested in doing the Frank Betts Plein Air paintout this Summer, this is an opportunity to explore Alameda.  Stay for lunch, anyone?

March 21:  *Tilden Regional Park, Botanic Garden, Shasta Rd. Berkeley https://www.ebparks.org/parks/tilden/botanic-garden 
1550 Wildcat Canyon Rd.  Berkeley, CA 94708. The parking lot is on the right.  Prominent plants now are redbud, pink-flowering currant, California poppy, trilliums, shooting stars, wallflowers, fritillaries, fawn lilies, rock cress, and pussy willows. 

March 28: Seaview Drive and Moeser Lane, (park on Seaview Drive) Take Moeser Ln up the hill to Seaview Drive on the right, then park along the street.  From the Arlington, turn downhill and make a left. This overlooks a vacant lot with trees in full bloom and has a great view of the bay.  Restrooms at the El Cerrito Community Center.
