Plein Air for April 2024

We meet at the site on Thursdays 11 am – 1 pm and welcome all artists. We’ll resume meeting afterward at the site to share our work with each other at 1 pm. 

April 4:  *Washington Park, Alameda.  1333 Eighth St.  Head south on Interstate 80 to Interstate 580 towards Oakland. Take exit 42 toward Alameda. (0.3mi) Turn right onto 5th St. (0.2mi) Then take a slight left turn onto Webster St Tube. (0.7 mi). Keep left onto Wilma Chan Way (1.0mi) 1.2 mi – the parking lot is on your right.  There are lots of open spaces in the park and nearby are some beautiful Craftsman style bungalows along a street lined with palm trees (Burbank St at Portola St). For those interested in doing the Frank Betts Plein Air paintout this Summer, this is an opportunity to explore Alameda.  Stay for lunch, anyone?

April 11:  MILLER KNOX REGIONAL SHORELINE*
Southern End of Dornan Drive Richmond.  Take I-580 in Richmond to Exit 8, the Canal Boulevard/Garrard Boulevard Exit. Turn left onto Canal Boulevard and continue under the freeway, turn right onto West Cutting at the corner near the Chevron Station, and left onto South Garrard Boulevard at the three-way stop. Proceed through the tunnel onto Dornan Drive and continue South towards San Francisco Bay. Turn Right into the parking lot. We’ll meet close to the water

From Berkeley or North Oakland, take The Alameda to the Circle, Arlington Ave, left onto Rincon, first parking lot on the right is Blake. From north, Arlington Ave, right onto Rincon. Lets try again this month and see what else is in bloom.

April 25: TILDEN REGIONAL PARK – INSPIRATION POINT

FROM BERKELEY take I-80 to the University Exit and go east toward campus. Turn left onto Oxford St., right onto Rose St. and left onto Spruce St. Follow Spruce St. uphill. At the intersection with Grizzly Peak Blvd., Spruce St. changes name to Wildcat Canyon Rd. At the Grizzly Peak Blvd. intersection continue straight ahead and follow Wildcat Canyon Road past the Brazilian Room, and the Regional Parks Botanic Garden, and continue following the signs to Inspiration Point. Meet in the parking lot to the left.
